FILM FAQS

I’ve worked with clients who are completely new to film, as well as those who are already film enthusiasts. No matter where you fall, I’ve got you covered! Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions I receive from both types of clients. My goal is to make sure we're all on the same page before we work together, so you’ll feel confident and comfortable with having your photos taken on film!

 FAQs

  • Here’s a more refined version of your message:

35mm film is smaller than medium format, which means the scans from medium format tend to have less grain and offer a slightly higher quality overall. Since medium format is a larger film size, each roll has fewer exposures—typically 10-15, compared to 36 exposures on a 35mm roll. I use both film formats for every shoot, including weddings, to give you the best of both worlds!

  • I’ve included a picture of some archived negatives above! For context, film negatives are transparent strips that contain a reversed image of what was photographed.

When shooting with film, each frame is exposed when the shutter is pressed, creating an image. These negatives are then scanned, converted into a positive image, and turned into a digital file!

  • Once your film is developed, I get it scanned and turned into a digital file. I then send the images to you digitally in a customized gallery! I also mail negatives back to clients that purchase that add on!

  • I'm a huge fan of Kodak Ultramax so most of my pictures are taken with that! I also shoot with Portra 160, Portra 800, Kodak Gold, and Kentmere Pan 400 regularly! It all just depends on where and when I am doing a shoot!

  • Quite a few at this point haha. The collection keeps on growing! My current camera line up (from most to least used):

    • Contax G2

    • Canon EOS 3

    • Fujifilm GA645Zi

    • Canon AE-1

    • Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 170

    • Mamiya RB67

    Digital Setup:

    • Sony A7 IV

    • Fuji X-T5

  • I get my film developed and scanned at Allen's camera in Orem, UT since I used work there! I actually got a job there because I loved how my film would turn out whenever I dropped it off at their lab!
